DENICA: Activities

On 21 November, 2000 it was realized a platform discussion on "Drugs from the Medical and Psychological Aspect". The speaker was Dr. Eli Karceva-Sarajli. There were 65 people present.

On 23 November, 2000 it was realized another platform discussion on "Management and Marketing in Macedonia". The speaker was Dr. Saso Kozuharov. 110 people were in attendance.

In November 2000, our organization applied to the Macedonian Center for International Cooperation for support of a new project. This project is to provide training for citizens, including courses for career transitions, additional degrees and qualifications, and training for more specialized fields. We are still awaiting an answer to our application.

On 6 December, 2000 it was presented a platform discussion in the field of religion on the theme "Christmas Holidays and Fasting". The speaker was Father Alexander from the Macedonian Orthodox Church in Strumica. Approximately 80 persons attended.

On 29 December 2000 for the first time after many years Macedonian philharmonic with the magnificent New Year's concert had its appearance. The large hall in the House of culture was too small to gather all the people interested in it, and a video wall was installed outside the House. This project is the greatest project realized from Denica's own means thanks to the donations and sponsorships from many firms and the Mayor who were interested in the realization of the manifestation in the town. The total organization for the realization of this project was carried out by several volunteers from the organization.

In February 2001 there was organized a lecture on "Malignant illnesses on the genital organs in women". At the lecture there were present more than 60 women. The lecturer was Doctor Trivodaliev - specialist gynecologist.

In March 2001 the educative centre for children and youths "Vavilon" started working, as a project of the Citizens' organization "Denica" in cooperation with UNICEF. The aim of the project is education, socialization, motivation of creativity, ethnical and religious tolerance. The project includes children aged 7-14 and youths 14-18 from different ethnical and religious groups and different social environments. This education includes four areas: English, psycho-social skills, creativity and computer studies. The project is still in progress.

At the beginning of the month of April 2001, after accepting the Proposal distributed to the Ministry of Forestry Water distribution and Ecology, about 7000 trees to be planted at the fired slopes above the city, an action for planting trees was carried out. It was realized thanks to the great engagement of the members of the party of VMRO - DPMNE, who were involved in the action, the citizens, the organization "Kardashlak" from Strumica, and the technical help from JP "Komunalec" as well as JP for Forestry "Belasica" from Strumica.

Month of April 2001 - A lecture on "Resurrection - light to the world". Lecturer - Father Aleksandar from the Macedonian Orthodox Church. Over 100 citizens present. (One more lecture the very same night)

April 2001 - Humanitarian action in the primary school "25 Maj" from Novo Selo and the Institution for Rehabilitation of Children and Youths "Banja Bansko". The pupils and protégés were visited at the Easter holidays and distributed clothes and food

End of June 2001 - A lecture on "Prevention of cardiovascular illnesses". Lecturer - Doctor Eli Karcheva Sarajlija, specialist internist. Present more than 70 citizens, the lecture was also given attention by the media. For this lecture, together with the Worker's University "Joska Sveshtarot", there was made a brochure in 150 copies, the issuing of which was financed by the Institute for International Cooperation at the Union of national universities of Germany
